My name is Robert Ward 515599,a inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution. I've been here for over a year. This is my second incarceration. My first was 2014 - 2018. I did almost 5 years out and was one month from getting off of E.S. I got a new case and none of my time on the streets counted. They gave me 2 years for my revocation and 5 years for my new case. So 7 years I have to do. I did 5 years on the outside with no violations and I started a business and had two beautiful daughters. When I had PRC at Dodge my PRC person said I did really good out there and she was sending me to medium. 4 weeks after, Madison DOC overrode her and sent me to Waupun which at the time was under complete lockdown and overcrowded.
June 6th 2024 I decided I was done being treated like an animal. I helped quickly organize a protest. We are in our rooms 24/7, one shower a week and one rec a week. maybe… So I had enough. 19 of a stayed at the Rec field after rec was over..
After 5 hours people started giving up and going in. I was sent to CCI but was sent back to Waupun- now on AC. My#1 goal is to help the youth and adults learn that they are not alone with the struggle with mental health and just life in general. If we can love and teach our peers and kids we can overcome anything. We can be better! We can do better! My release date is 12 6:29. this time I will overcome this Fucked up system.
