MENTAL HEALTH CARE

"animal in a cage" by DarRen Morris

CONDITIONS in our RHU ( restrictive Housing Units) where MOST of the mentally remain forever.

Damien Green sits in a seg cell 24/7.He has only a crayon to write with, no radio or tv or any electronics. Others have only a rubber pencil which is so light you have to hold it under the brightest lamp to read and it certainly doesn't scan. Books have to come with a paper receipt and that is not happening anymore- so books are limited and most of FFUP Destress Project stuff is not allowed in They get soap "packages", the size we get in motels- about 2"by 1/2 inch, a couple times a week and they are always hungry as food portions are small getting smaller.  Abuse is rampant, I think because it is a  hard place to work- where there is only punishment and only those that like to cause pain , stay.

I am told every day there is a major suicide attempt- we only hear of deaths thru the prisoners and they usually do not know the real names of the prisoners who die, as they use nick names for each other for protection. And what do prisoner get if they try to kill themselves-? a conduct report with more time in seg.

THERE IS NO TREATMENT. someone from the psych department will stand at the cell door and ask if they feel like harming themselves. If they say "yes : they are put in the "obs cell ". What I hear mostly happens is that they are stripped naked , strapped down , until they feel otherwise.

Most the mentally ill are in these RHUs . the WIDOC gets around censure for putting the mentally ill into solitary  by 1) changing the name of the solitary units. 2)simply changing the serious level of the prisoner's illness  from two to one easy peasy. they need not even have an appointment with a psychologist to do that.

Here is the WIDOC document that started the process of quickly changing diagnoses- we call it "cure by diagnosis" .(coming)

Below are links to some of the prisoners so entombed/some who are in general after a long struggle. So far we mostly just have intros but prisoners are invited to write and keep writing and we will post all. Each prisoner has his or own post to spread. We hope that this helps them survive with psyches intact while they help us educate you , the public. on how your tax dollars are being used.

no treatment or training, infinite solitary then dumped with no support on the street. setup for failure.
